Spent six days in Frankfurt at the Nippon Connection film festival (June 4-9). On Wednesday I took part in a panel discussion with Tom Mes and Ken Okubo, called: ""The 1990's: A Golden Age of Japanese Cinema"".
On Saturday I was the moderator for another panel discussion (""Film after Fukushima: How Filmmakers Deal with the Crisis""), featuring actress-producer Kiki Sugino ('Odayaka'), director Ian Thomas Ash ('A2') and PIA Film Festival director Keiko Araki.
The same day I also did a late night talk of nearly 2 hours with director Miwa Nishikawa ('Wild Berries"", 'Sway', 'Dear Doctor', 'Dreams for Sale').
